Along with Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, John Mellencamp and Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen will join dozens of other musicians to celebrate the 90th birthday of American folk music legend Pete Seeger. "The Clearwater Concert: Creating the Next generation of Environmental Leaders" will be held at Madison Square Garden on May 3 and will raise awareness and funs for Hudson river Sloop Clearwater, an environmental organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the Hudson River that was founded by Seeger. The gala is part of a series of 90th birthday events benefiting Clearwater, such as the annual Clearwater Festival in June and a March solo acoustic show by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy. Among the other artists scheduled to appear are Ben Harper, Steve Earle, Joan Baez, Richie Havens, Juanes, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Bragg, Michael Franti and Tom Morello. Before the Madison Square Garden gala, Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band will kick off a tour in support of the Boss' latest album, Working on a Dream, in April. Little Steven, aka Steven Van Zandt, will join the Boss and the Band on tour, despite rumors that he was too busy to do so with hosting his popular satellite radio show (Underground garage) and running two record labels! After weaving their way throughout the States, with a performance at Bonnaroo and possible Coachella date (if the rumors are true), they will cross the pond for a string of shows in the U.K. this summer. Among Springsteen's slated U.K. gigs are a headlining performance at the U.K.'s famed Glastonbury festival, which is rumored to be his first U.K. festival appearance. The festival organizer, Michael Eavis, made the exciting announcement on the Glastonbury website: "I'm so pleased that Bruce Springsteen has agreed to come to Worthy Farm for the first time. He's one of the all-time rock legends and I'm confident that this will be one of our best shows ever," So make sure you check online for Bruce Springsteen tickets to see the Boss this spring or summer. Bruce Springsteen first broke into the music scene with his iconic album Born to Run, which was released in 1975 and instantly crowned him the voice of working class Americans. A native of New Jersey, Springsteen didn't stop with one successful album, continuing to churn out classic records like 1978's Born in the U.S.A. while also generating a reputation as one of the best live acts with his E Street Band. Although they parted ways in 1989, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band came back together in 1995 (much to the delight of fans across the globe) and have been wowing audiences ever since, with Bruce Springsteen tickets selling out often! Springsteen and the E Street Band recently took the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show last month as the fifth consecutive veteran act (the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Prince have recently taken the stage for the biggest football game of the year).
