Bruce Springsteen took the stage for the first of two rehearsal concerts on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey's 85-year-old Convention Hall on March 23, telling the crowd of about 3,000 fans "Tonight is the night you get to be the guinea pigs." The two-and-a-half-hour show was in preparation for the Boss' upcoming Working on a Dream tour and throughout Springsteen and his E Street Band played both band debuts and greatest hits. "Don't know if we have a show yet, but we're just going to run through a bunch of songs and see how we're doing," the Boss before launching through about half of his new album, Working on a Dream, including the epic ballad "Outlaw Pete." Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have undergone a few changes as of late, and one new member of the lineup was on hand for the show, 18-year-old Jay Weinberg. The son of Max Weinberg, Jay will be filling in on drums on tour for his father when he returns to L.A. to lead Conan O'Brien's house band on the Tonight Show. Jay, who contributed to "Candy's Room" and "Because the Night," told reporters after the show, "It's unbelievable. I've been on tour with them since I was nine, but I never thought I could be put into this family any deeper. It's a huge moment." Other new faces are backup singers Curtis King and Cindy Mizelle, who are both members of the Boss' most recent side project, the Seeger Sessions Band. Bruce Springsteen took off running after releasing the iconic Born to Run in 1975. The New Jersey native released classic album after classic album throughout the late '70s and '80s and also garnered the title of one of the best live rock acts for his energetic performances with the famed E Street Band. Although the Boss and the E Street Band split in 1989, they were back together after Springsteen's inauguration to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.Check online for Bruce Springsteen tickets to see the Boss and his band back in action when their Working on a Dream tour hits the road. While fans at the rehearsal show were likely wowed by Springsteen and the E Street Band's performance, he told the crowd: "The next time you see us, we'll be a well-oiled machine," as his sign-off. In addition to his upcoming tour, Bruce Springsteen will headline the 90th birthday gala of American folk music legend Pete Seeger. Along with Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Emmylou Harris, Eddie Vedder and dozens of other artists, the Boss will take the stage for "The Clearwater Concert: Creating the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders" at Madison Square Garden on May 3. The event will raise funds and awareness for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, which Seeger founded in efforts to preserves and protect the Hudson River. The gala is one of a handful of 90th birthday events, such as a solo acoustic show by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy and the annual Clearwater Festival to be held in June, which will benefit Seeger's cause.
