Crowds Collect as Barack Obama Makes History

By: Musa Aykac

Tuesday 20th of January will be a date that everyone is always going to remember as history was made when Barack Obama strides to the pinnacle of American power. The day will see Barack Obama be crowned the 44th new president and eliminate any conflict of racism as he becomes the first ever black president.

America has been long looking for a change after a long eight years with president bush, which saw the attacks on 9/11 and the beginning of the war and more recently the economic downfall that the whole world is experiencing.

Hundreds and thousand of people are queuing up in the capital city to mark the new era. The streets started to fill up in the early hours of the morning where people are braving the very icy temperatures in Washington. Barack Obama caught millions of people's imaginations in this year's election showing the whole world a new glimpse of hope that in fact letting people's public opinions count a lot more and showing the world that problems can be addressed and attacked with diplomacy rather than force and military power.

Barack Obama is really quite remarkable for what he has achieved. Only five years ago he was an unknown citizen and law maker to a much loved president, and he has always stated that he could end all the wars and take America out of the economic down turn that they are currently experiencing.

It will be a big change as Americans had lost a lot of trust in George Bush over his handling of the Iraq war, his slow response to Hurricane Katrina and the economic meltdown. But things are set to improve and although it will not be instantly, Barack Obama will be wanting to get the changes made as soon as possible.

The world is in downturn at the moment, wars and violence is happening left right and centre and people are losing there jobs, banks are no longer lending any money. If things do not straighten out the world could end up going back to the stone age. What if all the ISP's collapsed and the electricity companies? Where would that leave the internet and world? Hopefully with a new president America can now help sort this mess out. Obama, son of a Kansas-born white woman and a Kenyan born black father, decided to use his full name, Barack Hussein Obama, for the swearing-in.
