Dave Matthews Band Tickets - No Loss Will Stop the Work

By: Brent Warnken

For those who were fearful that the legendary Dave Matthews Band was missing their city during its spring '09 trek in promotion of their latest album, the guys have just added three more months to their tour - with dates up through the beginning of October. Setting out April 14th at New York City's Madison Square Garden, the guys take a brief nap after Las Vegas' May performance before returning to the stage just a few weeks later for a continuation of the adventure, returning to the Darien Center in New York.

The guys aren't planning on being the only big acts on stage, as a slew of openers, from Jason Mraz, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Avett Brothers, Robert Earl Keen, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, the Hold Stead and Femi Kuti & the Positive Force are all set to appear prior to the rockers. Dave Matthews Band tickets are set to sell quickly once websites put them on the market (March 12th), so act now before they all leave the building.

Dave Matthews Band, though still reeling from the sudden loss of founding member and saxophonist LeRoi Moore who died during their 2008 concert after complications arose due to a June all-terrain vehicle accident, are stepping back in the spotlight both as a dedication as a preservation for this lost friend. The latest set, Live Trax Vol. 14 features Moore's last performance with the band, from DMB's Bristown, VA's performance last summer. The records sales and a portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to charitable organizations, according to the group's website, particularly those that reflected Moore's lost spirit and passion. Proceeds from the latest live set will particularly see donations toward the Charlottesville Music Resource Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Charlottesville - Albermarle, where Moore grew up.

The guy's aren't just making a statement with this spring/summer tour, but plan on making appearances at dozens of international festivals, including Belgium's Rock Werchter 2009 along with Coldplay, Metallica, The Killers and Oasis, followed by Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park and a headlining stint for Optimus Alive!09 in Portugal and the 10,000 Lakes Festival. Joining the Dave Matthews Band regulars, which include Dave Matthews, Carter Beauford, Stefan Lesard and Boyd Tinsley, longtime DMB friend Tim Reynolds and his group, TR3 (Rashawn Ross and Jeff Coffin) are joining the guys for "several west coast shows" before Reynolds joins the group in April, according to the group's website.

Though they recognize that no one can collectively replace Moore, Reynolds is a solid fit for the alternative rock group since he and Matthews had begun collaborations just months prior to Moore's death with a tour in Europe and the States. The group, who had previously started work on their next studio effort just months before Moore's passing, has yet to announce whether a new studio effort will follow their latest live compilation, as the latest project was in its final stages of production during the most unfortunate incident.

The latest live album includes Moore's last live performances with the group, including the hit "The Space Between," which hadn't been played since 2004, "Sledgehammer," which was the single's live debut, "Don't Drink the Water," "Louisiana Bayou" and "Anyone Seen the Bridge." The album, which has yet to receive a name, is dropping in June, just after the guys' summer tour really sets in.
