Dave Matthews Band Tickets - The Singer-Songwriter is Heading on Tour!

By: Brent Warnken

All across the country, fans are clamoring for Dave Matthews Band tickets. The singer-songwriter (and his band) are now heading out on another tour, bringing hits-to-be and old classics with them.

The band got started in 1991 in Charlottesville, Virginia. They were a group of hard-working musicians, traveling from college campus to college campus, playing wherever they could but finding a particularly strong audience in college students. The band eventually scored a record deal and released their major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming, in 1994. This was a big break for them. The record featured a strong assortment of pop-rock, much of which got them radio attention, such as the song "Ants Marching." The song peaked at 18 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, while another hit, "What Would You Say," hit 11 on the same chart. The album itself made it to 11 on the Billboard 200, narrowly missing entering the Top 10. In any case, the band had a pretty solid opening that guaranteed many listeners would be following their career.

It was 1996's Crash that sent the band over the top. "Crash Into Me" was a radio hit that also flooded MTV. In short time, the record was platinum, peaking at two on the Billboard 200 and spawning a number of hit singles, including "Crash Into Me," "So Much to Say" and "Too Much." This was the major album that made them national (and even international) superstars.

Unfortunately, around this time the band started encountering a lot of trouble with bootleggers. A lot of live performances were being sold of their shows, so the band decided to meet the demands of fans halfway. They provided them with Live at Red Rocks 8.15.95, a live album proved to be amazingly successful for a live album, peaking at three on the Billboard 200.

They followed up with the stellar Before These Crowded Streets in 1998, finally topping the Billboard 200. It took them just about six years, but the band had climbed to the top of the charts and became wildly popular across the country. You could pretty much count on any young person at this time having a Dave Matthews CD (or a few mp3s on their computer).

The band followed up with a double-disc live album. Live records have always done well by the Dave Matthews Band, probably because the energy of their fan base is so strong, and the experience of being at one of their live shows is so unique. The band has released a number of live albums in the '00s, which tend to do almost as well as their full albums.

Though 2001's Everyday received a poor reception from critics, the song "I Did It" did prove popular. That was followed by 2002's Busted Stuff and the very popular 2005 record Stand Up. For the second time, the band topped the Billboard 200 with that record.
The band is still running strong and now they're running by a city near you!
