Do Car Mechanics Really Understand About New Cars?

By: Musa Aykac

For a long time car mechanics have been the back bone of the auto mobile industry, if you had a problem with your car you would take it to the local garage and they would probably be able to detect and fix the problem with some ease.

But as times progressed, cars became a lot more advanced. Cars in this day and age are now a lot more improved. If you think of this as a pedal bike for example, cars used to be exactly the same you would be able to see where the error was visually and remove and repair it because it was all mechanical.

But now cars are heavily reliant on electrical components and computers memories, so when the car brakes down now, mechanics are just playing a guessing game, because what they have been taught all of these years has suddenly changed and they now have to use computers instead of being able to actually see the problem.

So why has this been done. I think for one of a few reasons so lets have a brief look below:
1) The main dealers are the only people who really know how to fix new cars these days, they have been losing out for too many years with small garages repairing their vehicles, so they have said enough is enough lets build vehicles that only we can really repair fully.
2) The new engines cost much less to build than the old mechanical engines, this means better profit margins for the manufacturers.

I think this is entirely unacceptable because what ends up happening is that mechanics try to fix every aspect of your car, ultimately charging you a fortune in costs and in the end they really do not have a clue what is wrong with it. We all know that most mechanics are pretty terrible with technology especially when it comes to computers, most do not even know how to switch them on.

The only solution and way to move forwards is by all the mechanics having to regularly attend training courses at least twice a year. Car technologies change so much and there is no way to keep up with it unless you get training from the actual manufacturers. Come five years time we will all be driving electrical hybrid cars, so if these small garages and mechanics want to stay in business then they need to keep up with times.
