By: Brent Warnken

Who woulda thunk it? Rapper 50 Cent will join emo punk-poppers Fall Out Boy for five dates on their Believers never Die Part Deux tour this spring. About the unlikely pairing, 50 Cent told MTV News: "This will be a major moment in music history.

Joining forces with Fall Out Boy, one of the most dynamic rock bands in the industry, will be an exciting and historic event for rock and hip-hop." Metro Station, All Time Low, Hey Monday and Cobra Starship with alternate as opening acts for Fall Out Boy's upcoming tour, which kicks off after they return from performing a handful of European dates April 3 at the Mesa Amphitheatre in Mesa, Arizona. 50 Cent will take the stage for shows at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver (April 14), the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas (April 17), the Showgrounds at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas (April 18), Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. (April 24) and Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, M.D. (April 25).

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz told MTV that the band is excited to have 50 join them on tour, saying "We've been fans of 50 since we heard "Wanksta" in 8 Mile. We've wanted to do something with his for awhile, and having him on the tour is gonna take the show to a whole new level. It's exciting to bring two different genres together and give the fans a new experience." This isn't the first pop-punk and hip-hop pairing however, as Linkin Park and Jay-Z have teamed up on tour and Jay also took the stage at the U.K.'s Glastonbury festival last year. What a difference eight years can make, in 2001 Fall Out Boy was just another pop-punk band trying to make it and now they are headlining their very own tour supported by 50 Cent among other exciting acts! The band emerged out of Wilmette, a Chicago suburb and came together after each band member played for various other local bands. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley and guitarist Joe Trohman, the quartet self-released their demo in 2001 and continued to release efforts until Island Records heard their 2003 mini LP Evening Out with Your Girl and signed the band. Fall Out Boy made their major-label debut in the form of Take This to Your Grave but didn't score their true breakthrough until 2005's From Under the Cork Tree. The album went double platinum, spawning hit singles "Dance, Dance" and "Sugar We're Going Down," and won Fall Out Boy their first Grammy for Best New Artist.

Fall Out Boy secured even more success with their next album, Infinity on High, which yielded popular single "This Ain't a Scene, It's An Arms Race," and appears to be on the same upward trajectory thanks to the success of their most recent release, 2008's Folie a Duex. Singles like "Beat It," "America's Sweethearts" and "I Don't Care" are climbing the Billboard charts and Fall Out Boy tickets continue to sell out!
