When starting out in network marketing it can seem that it is the ideal solution to many problems, whether you are looking for a second income, trying to get out of debt, pay off your mortgage, top up your pension or set yourself off on a whole new career one of the most frequently overlooked areas are the running costs and marketing costs of what is your own home based business. When you come across network marketing for the first time you are met with an opportunity to start your own home based business as an independent distributor and that can seem the perfect alternative to having to create your own products, services and websites or set up a retail shop on the high street paying huge overheads. With such a wide choice available especially with the escalation of new network marketing businesses on the internet it can seem easy to join for free or pay a small upfront joining fee and think it is the only expense you will need to find. As the industry naturally attracts people who have no sales or marketing experience it can quickly become apparent to new distributors that once the initial joining fee has been paid more money is required to advertise and market their business whether it is in the form of classified adverts for example offline or pay per click marketing online there is a generally a huge lack of understanding of the continuous amount of marketing money that is required to make a network marketing business grow. The same is true of any business, whether offline or online and very few companies give adequate guidance as to the percentage of profits generated that are required to be put back into marketing to create momentum. As a general rule the first three months of profits should be put back into the business to fund more marketing, your business in the early days is not there to replace an income that is why most network marketing businesses are started part-time. If you have a high margin product a breakeven point can be reached with less sales, however if you are marketing low margin products or services you will need to generate much higher levels of sales before you reach your breakeven point and move into profit. This can take much longer than most people realise. The benefit of using systems that have funded proposals in place often allow for the cost of advertising and marketing the business to be substantially reduced or negated. When you can perfect the art of return on investment with online pay per click strategies you will suddenly realise that the more money you spend on effective marketing the more you will make in return. Once you understand that your network marketing business whether it was free to join, a few hundred dollars or a few thousand dollars you will still need to invest further regular sums of money into growing your business or you will join the vast majority of network marketers who have a business that exists but is not generating any positive cashflow.
