So when you think of Land Rover you probably associate countryside, using a car like that should probably be for some off-road adventure at least once, I mean it's designed to the rugged outdoors. What happens then when you are out and about in the country in your Land Rover when disaster strikes, no I'm not talking about leaving a country gate ajar, I'm talking Bear Grills Survival and being able to react well in that type of scenario. Land Rover of course, as a manufacturer provides many survival-like Land Rover accessories, but is your land Rover key ring really going to help you when you are left abandoned in the wild? Here we look at what accessories you will need in such a predicament. Firstly you should always keep an emergency kit with you at all times and your car is the ideal place to store such a thing. But what is important in your kit? Land Rover does provide many Land Rover accessories that would be vital in this situation such as warm fleeces and flashlights, but the emergency kit does need a bit more. An emergency kit should consist of the following: 1. A map and Compass 2. Water treatment tablets 3. First aid kit 4. Rope 5. Emergency candles 6. Waterproof matches 7. Flint and butane lighter 8. Signal Mirror 9. Pocket Knife 10. Whistle 11. Tent 12. Power food bars 13. Medication you need plus pain killers 14. Tent 15. Bear Grills, Ray Mears (optional) It is a good idea if you regularly go camping or hiking to have a kit like this available as if you are to get lost these things could end up saving your life. Obviously, some car manufactures may supply some of these accessories and Land Rover accessories are probably more likely to than say Porsche. Should you ever get lost unless you are Ray Mears, your best bet is to stay exactly where you are, where others may expect you to be. Before any expeditions you should inform people of where you plan to go and your timetable. Using your emergency whistle and signal mirror can be a good way to alert people of your position and building a signal fire can also do this. However do be careful when lighting fires, the last thing you need is a forest fire as well as being lost! Another good tip is to write a big X or SOS marking on the ground with stones and branches so people from above can spot then. Stay as calm as you can and seek shelter early on, don't wait until it is dark or cold-this will not help your chances. Eat and drink at regular intervals and try to avoid panicking. You can die in a few hours from lack of shelter and from a panic-induced injury. Food wise you can survive for up to a month and without liquid three to five days. You'll be surprised at how a night in the wild may end up being more of an inconvenience than a life-threatening experience especially equipped with land rover accessories and your survival kit!
