Kelly Clarkson has returned to the stage, after being in the dim light of her own making. Now she's returning with a pop master (Max Martin) and a new game face - All I Ever Wanted made a premiere on Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Clarkson singing "My Life Would Suck Without You," already an early position for Single of the Year as deemed by Rolling Stone. The bad girl of American Idol is back, and there is no doubt that the angst power from "Since U Been Gone" will help websites to sell out her tickets. Clarkson isn't quite ready to support her latest set with a full headlining tour, but Kelly Clarkson tickets are still making their rounds at a few summer concert specials, including one with Gavin DeGraw in August. And with help from a big boost via Billboard.com, who not only plan on housing the popper's new album up on their Top 200 but also predict that the punk rocker will knock off the infamously Irish group U2 from the top spot next week, Clarkson has been clever enough to make that change in her tunes. After performing on her American Idol last week post Good Morning America, the two groups are working together to boost album sales in general, since the onset of YouTube and iTunes have made music venues nearly obsolete. Sure, her lyrics aren't emotionally inventive, singing about her lack of one night stands and whatnot, but the powerful melodies and crash of guitars led by the unmistakable vocal capacity from the winner of the first season of American Idol nearly drown out the relatively rudimentary lyrical content. "Wanted" has Clarkson's strong vocals pop through its piano balladry and retro-soul beats as she sings "I'm not your love monkey, so be takin' back all of the lies you sold." Another, "Cry," shows her Texas roots develop full swing, putting Kellie Pickler to shame. As the constant theme remains one of independence and self-reliance, rumors regarding Clarkson's sexuality and relationship experience will undoubtedly become more heightened. During an interview with newest American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi during Entertainment Tonight, Clarkson said, "Just because I'm single and don't date a lot, that doesn't make me a lesbian." Though she admits that she's never been in love and has dated a few men that were only "interested" in her to be part of the fame, her work lyrically with singles like "Cry" divulge that there has been a heartbreak or two. Her previous album, 2007's My December, was full of depressingly relatable lyrics, all co-composed by Clarkson - but all equally lacking a catchy chorus. The album failed in the eyes of the pop star, who had to cancel a tour due to poor ticket sales and contrived a heated relationship with her record label and its mogul, Clive Davis. Though still managing to go platinum, the album didn't heel any singles, which was quite a change for the 11 million seller Breakaway, her sophomore effort. Seemingly in the darkness, a country album was leaked with her name on it and the project was shelved - but now she's back, and ready to break out everything she's ever wanted.
