Make Money Online-Become an Affiliate for FREE

By: Glenn Heitkoetter

With the affiliate method of selling on the web there is no need to deal with products. The site you are working with does all customer support, product handling, and taking the actual orders.

They track your sales from your links with tracking software or a company that specializes in tracking will do it for them. Signing up for an affiliate program is usually free.

If it is not free this should make you double check the site and the products to make sure it is legitimate. If they charge a fee this does not necessarily mean they are no good but it is unusual. Most of the time the company will pay you monthly, but every three months, bi-weekly, weekly, daily and point of sale payouts are also done by companies.

There are now thousands of companies to choose from, affiliate selling is exploding. There is also multi-tier, usually two tiers but sometimes more where someone who you get in the program can also sell something and you will also get paid as well as them for their sales.

To run your business you must check with your state, county, city, and federal governments for licensing. You may need a 'fictitious name statement' or 'doing business as' if you are using a company name that you came up with. This is usually a few dollars and issued by your local governments.

For affiliate selling you may not need a license(s) because it may only be needed in your area if you are collecting sales tax on the purchases of the products. Since the affiliate companies you are working with collect the taxes for the state they are in you will not be the one collecting taxes at the point of sale. You will have to check with them and they may want you to have a license(s) anyways.

Pharmacy drugs, medical, real estate, mortgages, loans, insurance, law, tobacco, alcohol and other fields which are heavily regulated by governments which may make being an affiliate in these fields fall under special licensing requirements. It will also depend on what you are saying and how you are presenting it on your website, article, or e-mail.

If you have a site about pets and want to put a animated banner on the side that the affiliate company gave you for loans or insurance this would probably be okay, but you still must check.

The more active you are in selling on your site such as you writing 'We have the best loan rates and insurance quotes' for example the more likely you would need a mortgage broker license and insurance license. Get a list or check on the government websites of all the fields with special license requirements before you promote your site with these types of products and services.

To get started it is easy. If you want 'free hosting' just do a search I found some okay ones from just a simple search. Then type in 'affiliate programs' and there are tons of companies to choose from.

There are different ways to promote your affiliate product for free. Article submission and doing some free online classified ads. Adding keyword targeted content to your site to get put up by a search engine.

Do a search with 'keywords' and there will be ways to find keywords and how popular they are. A keyword can actually mean a phrase like 'how to run a home business'.

Getting a keyword that gets a lot of hits is going to be very competitive and difficult to get enough content up on your site to out do the competition. You may wish to work on a less popular keyword which may have no real good competition. You will get some traffic instead of none. Then work on other keywords.

Some free software that will help optimize your site for keywords and how to work with content is Web CEO.

Submitting an article to a few article sites will get your site crawled by the engines. Just run your link to where you want it to go in your site in the author bio or resource box. Another thing I found is to run a keyword in an article title which I found MSN and Google to like.

I found a method that got a lot of hits to my site for very little work and still is, posting to a forum, discussion, or blog with your site link. The post you make must be related directly to what the discussion is or your wasting your time and will get deleted.

The post must help or add to the discussion, or answer a person's question. Try to make your link live with a 'href' tag if they allow it. The link must go to something that is directly related to the topic.

Three software you will need that are free is HTML KIT , Filezilla, and NVU.

The drawback to free hosting is the domain name may not be what you really want. They also may have a low limit on bandwidth and bill for any amount over. They may also only give simple templates that may not fit your setup that you want to do.

There is also automatic deletion of an account that does not get enough hits. There is also a banner ad that they may want you to put on your site. Free service is okay if you have no money and want to start right away but buying shared hosting is better.

If you can afford it there are some great web hosting services now that gives away hundreds of dollars in free software.

Before I signed up myself I did some extra checking and this software really is worth hundreds for a simple sign up to web hosting which usually is about $7-10 a month now for shared hosting(1 year required).
