The Motorola ic602-Buzz is a simple clamshell style phone designed with the average consumer in mind. It is not an attractive device. It offers virtually no high end or high tech features. It is not for corporate business men or women. This phone is perfect for the person who just wants a device to talk on – and nothing else. Don’t expect much from the Motorola ic602-Buzz and you won’t be disappointed. The Motorola ic602-Buzz is one of the few Motorola phones on the market that offers support for both the CDMA and iDEN networks. This makes it support Sprint’s voice and data services as well as Nextel’s walkie-talkie services. However, unlike so many other CDMA phones, the Motorola ic602-Buzz does not support 3G data transfer, instead relying on the older and long outdated CDMA2000 network for data transfers. Measuring in at approximately three and a half inches by two inches by one inch, the Motorola ic602-Buzz is a fairly large device, especially for a clamshell phone. It also weighs a staggering 142 grams – far more than most smartphones with two or three times as many features. Battery life on the Motorola ic602-Buzz is particularly poor. Expect to get only three and a third hours of talk time or 135 hours of standby time on a single charge. This is completely unacceptable for a low-end phone with virtually no features. There are two displays on the Motorola ic602-Buzz, but neither is very good. The main screen on the inside of the phone allows for only 128 by 160 pixels and 65k colors while the external screen on the outside of the phone is a measly 96 by 32 pixel black and white screen. This external screen can display some information about various phone functions. One of the few features of the Motorola ic602-Buzz is a built in digital camera. Unfortunately, it allows for a resolution of only 0.3 megapixels. However, it also features a self-timer and four times digital zoom. Other features include a large phone book, an alarm, a calendar, a notepad, a calculator, a stopwatch, a measurement converter, a clock, a number of voice commands, email support, and GPS support. Pros * GPS support Cons * Not particularly attractive * Terrible battery life * Lack of features Overall Even as a free phone, the Motorola ic602-Buzz is a poor choice. For the same price (or a few dollars more), you can get some amazing equipment. Unlike other free phones on the market that offer all kinds of impressive functions, the Motorola ic602-Buzz lacks pretty much everything you could want in a modern phone. The only reason to even consider purchasing the Motorola ic602-Buzz is if you absolutely need both CDMA and iDEN support. Otherwise, pass on this dinosaur.
