The Samsung Mysto is a relatively new slider style candy bar phone designed specifically for the Helio wireless carrier. While designed with the average user in mind, it comes with a lot of nifty features all packed into a case that is certainly more than what you would expect from an average phone. Unfortunately, this well designed device has a few flaws that keep it from being truly perfect. The Samsung Mysto is a dual band CDMA device, which means that it can only be used in the United States and a few other places in the world. However, because the Samsung Mysto is bound to the CDMA network, it can take advantage of high speed data transfer over the EVDO rev.0 3G network. For a highly Internet centric device like the Samsung Mysto, this is a breath of fresh air. Measuring in at approximately four inches by two inches by a half of an inch, the Samsung Mysto is a fairly standard sized phone. It also weighs 95 grams, making it a little lighter than the competition – but not noticeably so. Unfortunately, it seems that the weight was cut from the size of the battery. Expect to get only three and a half hours of talk time or a pathetic 200 hours of standby time. If you have plans to take the Samsung Mysto on a weekend vacation, you’d better take your charger with you. The Samsung Mysto’s main screen is a rather large 2.2 inches in size, features a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels and a color depth of 262k. This puts it on par with a lot of the other midrange phones on the market. The Samsung Mysto also includes a built in 2.0 megapixel digital camera with video capabilities, digital zoom, and a number of photo effects to impress your family and friends. Multimedia is well supported compared to a lot of the other midrange devices that Samsung produces. There are plenty of audio and video files supported by their respective players, but you’ll have the most luck sticking with MP3s and MPEG-4s for music and videos, respectively. Furthermore, the built in 106MB of memory can easily be expanded thanks to microSD cards. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 support, a full HTML web browser, a large phone book, an alarm, a calendar, a unit converter, a notepad, a to-do list, a calculator, a number of voice commands, a voice recorder, a speakerphone, email support, and GPS support. The Samsung Mysto is a great phone that you should highly consider if you are looking for a device that does more than just call people.
