Why You Should Always Carry Your Printed Pens With You

By: gareth parkin

If you’ve gone to the trouble already of ordering printed pens, there’s one important thing that you should do with them, other than handing them out to your current clients as well as your staff. You should carry your printed pens with you wherever you go and have some extras in your vehicle or briefcase in case you run out.

The reason for having printed pens with you is so that you can leave them in places that you go, or give them to people you meet. Imagine handing a new acquaintance a printed pen instead of a business card – it’s something that is less likely to get lost in a pocket or tossed into a drawer. It’s unique and different for a business card and your new acquaintance will certainly think so.

Of course, one of the most obvious places to leave your printed pens is in your office for the use of staff and clients. You should have a bucket of your printed pens out for your customers to take with them, it’s also good to have a sign on the bucket of printed pens that says ‘Please take one’, to ensure that wariness won’t stop your customers from helping themselves to one of your printed pens. You really do want your customers to take your pens home with you, because chances are they will leave them somewhere by accident, which could translate to more customers for you. Also, if they do take your printed pens home, it will remind them of your business and services when they need them again.

You should also leave your printed pens behind at trade shows and fairs, purposefully. Take a few minutes to look around the trade show to find opportunities to leave your printed pens. If there are tables around for people to sit, leave a few pens on the table, as well as in the concession area. Drop a few printed pens onto each table, people will pick them up and likely scope out your booth at the trade fair to see what you have to offer. There are also other opportunities to leave your printed pens behind near competitor’s booths, such as open areas, form filling tables and more.

You can also leave your printed pens in banks or other businesses, by ‘accident’. Use one of your printed pens to fill out a bank form and then accidentally leave it behind on the counter. You may be able to find a complimenting business near your place of business that will allow you to leave printed pens there, perhaps in exchange for some of their printed pens at your business.

Having printed pens with you at all times is the key to being able to leave them in different places and hand them out to new acquaintances and potential business contacts. You can also give them to people that you know while you are out for lunch or at a meeting. Give your printed pens away to many people and get your printed pens circulating around in your business and personal circles.
