Country cowboys and girls are probably all too familiar with the "Chicken Fried" single but few will probably recognize the sweet, down home boys who brought such a hit to the radio. Enter the Zac Brown Band, led by the man himself, who have been performing together for over a decade - Mister Brown recently talked to LiveDaily online about his ambitions and how "Chicken Fried," the group's debut single, has already managed to sell a million copies. "I was very surprised," said the scruffy looking but pleasantly soft-spoken Brown to the music source. "The best thing is [that] we get to play for lots of people now every night. That's what we want to do. We're hard working musicians who enjoy showcasing what we can do live." The guys are continuing to not only rack up a plethora of live appearances, but some serious commercial acclaim as they recently learned of their fan-voted nomination for Top New Vocal Duo or Group for the Academy of Country Music Awards, voting, which began March 16th, while the winners will be named April 5th in Las Vegas. If you want to pop in and catch Zac Brown tickets or more online, it'd probably be best to act quickly as these grass roots rockers are having a field day with their new found fame. It hasn't been an overnight success for Brown, who has held strong for 13 years honing his craft in four previous records before The Foundation, the first with major label Atlantic, shot to the Billboard charts. Making live performances their "tester" source, performing their 40 - plus material in front of audiences and feeling out the response of the crowd, the group knows that live performances are what it's all about. "We're playing our record Foundation and our next record [live], as well. We will have been playing all that stuff for a year before we get to put that record out," Brown continues with LiveDaily. Finding a strong home in the grass roots market, Brown search high and low for his group, which also includes Jimmy De Martini, John Driskell Hopkins, Coy Bowles, Chris Fryar and Clay Cook; "I find them here and there and try to find the best ones I can find to come play with me, and try to build [a following] and create enough of a living to sustain them, so they love what they're doing and make a living doing it." It makes it easy with a sweet country chord like Brown and some catchy lyrics like "You know I like my chicken fried/cold beer on a Friday night/a pair of jeans that fit just right/ and the radio up."
